Quotes Thomas Jefferson - "Worship requires only a man and God." Bob Johnson
- "You cannot lead others in something you are not
currently experiencing. The best way to lead others in
worship is to worship God yourself. Spirit-filled
worship keeps our relationship with God current. We must
be filled to "overflowing" with the Holy Spirit so that
we can minister to others out of that "overflow". Graham Kendrick - "Worship is God's enjoyment of us and our enjoyment of him. Worship is a response to the father/child relationship." Jerry Kerns - "The whole person, with all his senses, with both mind and body, needs to be involved in genuine worship." Dr. Jack Kinneer - "What is worship according to the Word of God? Worship is the gathering of God's people in the presence of the Lord, on the Day of the Lord, around the Table of the Lord, to hear the Word of the Lord, to do the supper of the Lord, to pray the Lord's prayer, to sing the psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, and to share with the poor of Christ. This is the worship that is acceptable to the Lord. And this is the worship that will nurture and nourish our faith through all the troubles of this life to eternal life."
"I am only one; but still
I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do
something. I will not refuse to do the something I can
do."
Helen Keller The truly happy people
are those who have a source of happiness too deep to be
seriously disturbed by ordinary troubles.
Marion K. Rich Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at something that really doesn't matter. unknown We evaluate others with a
godlike justice, but we want them to evaluate us with a
godlike compassion.
Sydney J. Harris I
will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall
continually be in my mouth. He has promised us not
the absence of problems, but the guarantee of His
presence.
Hebrews 13:5 We have a choice: either
we will be conformed to this world, or we will be
transformed by the renewing of our minds. It is one or
the other. The only question is, which way will you go?
"Get Real. If all it
takes is an angry stranger to ruin your day, what are
you going to do if something really serious happens? Why
give someone else control of your life like that?"
Jeffrey Gitomer How do you react when
you're snubbed or mistreated? It's best not to lash out
but instead leave the matter in God's hands. Someone
once wrote: When you are quick to fight your own
battles, Jesus steps aside and gives you the job." But
if we refuse to retaliate, God will intervene on our
behalf.
Unknown All the things in this world are gifts and signs of God's love for us. The whole world is a gift from God. Peter Kraft "I am enough of an artist
to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more
important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world."
Albert Einstein "One of the wonderful aspects of the human imagination is its power to break through the barriers of time and space. It can see things not as they are but as the can be." Denis Waitley Only two things are eternal -- God's word and our souls author unkown The greatest act of faith is when man decides he is not God. Oliver Wendell Holmes Nothing valuable can be lost by taking time. Abraham Lincoln Jesus said: "If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love." John 15:10 Love is not just a
feeling, but it is action. For us as believers, the
action that most shows our love for Jesus is for us to
be obedient to his words and his example. "Anger is one letter short of danger!" Denis Waitley There are four essentials
for victory in trials: a joyful attitude, an
understanding mind, a surrendered will, and a heart that
wants to believe.
Warren W. Wiersbe The greatest act of faith is when man decides he is not God. Oliver Wendell Holmes Nothing valuable can be lost by taking time. Abraham Lincoln One thing that I long to develop in my walk with the Lord is a spiritual disposition that causes me to seek Him immediately in every single situation of life. I am so reactive by nature! So often I simply react to a situation rather than remembering how my God would have me respond because of who He is and because of what He has said. Kay Arthur
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very
great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. I will
sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise
to my God while I have my being.
(Psalm 104:1,33) My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord; and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. (Psalm 145:21)
God has promised not to
keep us from the valleys, but to walk through them with
us.
Psalm 23:4 "The greatest lesson in
life is to know that even fools are right sometimes."
Winston Churchill "I'm convinced that
evangelization is the Church's major imperative today.
Pope Paul VI said the Church exists to evangelize, and
Pope John Paul II said early in his pontificate that the
principal work of the Curch in our day is the
evangelization of the baptized."
Father Bedard We will find no rest for our heart or
spirit as long as we seek it in insignificant things
which cannot satisfy us, rather than in God who is
omnipotent, omniscient, and beneficent. He is our true
repose. Living the Christian life is like shaving - no matter how well you do it today, it needs to be done again tomorrow. unknown The purpose of your life
is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, peace
of mind, or even your happiness. It's far greater than
your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams
and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed
on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born
BY his purpose and FOR his purpose.
Rick Warren from "The Purpose Driven Life" Accepting God's plan for us is the surest way to happiness. One man practicing
sportsmanship is far better than a hundred teaching it.
One person practicing Christianity is far better than a
hundred teaching it.
"I thank God for my
handicaps, for through them I have found myself, my
work, my God."
Helen Keller
Without faith it is
impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to
him must believe that he exists and that he rewards
those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 I believe! I believe that
God not only knows me, but cares about me. I believe
that God not only created the universe, but he knows the
number of hairs on my head. I believe that God not only
sent his Son to save the world, but that he's sending
him back to bring me home. What's more, I believe that
God is pleased by my belief. "Be who you are and say
what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and
those who matter don't mind." "It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it." Sam Levenson He who truly trusts in
God will wait in God's time, use God's means, and walk
in God's way, even though it may seem round about.
Where love reigns, there
is not will to power; and where the will to power is
paramount, love is lacking. The purpose of prayer is
not to inform God of our needs, but to invite Him to
rule our lives.
Clarence Bauman I am not what I ought to
be. I am not what I want to be. I am not what I hope to
be. But still, I am not what I used to be. And by the
grace of God, I am what I am.
John Newton "The greatest source of
unhappiness comes from inside."
Jim Rohn "Happiness is an attitude
of mind, born of the simple determination to be happy
under all outward circumstances."
J. Donald Walters God never promised us
light loads. In fact, sometimes the loads are very, very
heavy. The weight of life sometimes stoops our
shoulders, slows our steps, and robs our sleep. God does
not promise to insulate us from burdens and exempt us
from sorrow. What God does promise us, though, is to
always be with us, to always be for us, and to always
wring whatever good can be wrung from life's heaviest
burdens and roughest trials.
Charles Poole, in "Is Life Fair? Good Words for Hard Times," 1996 God Wants Us To Be H. U.
M. B. L. E. !
"H" is for the HUMILITY to acknowledge we are sinners in need of a Savior. Jesus Christ is his name! "U" is for UNITY. He wants us to be united as brothers and sisters in love. He wants us to "bear with one another lovingly" (Eph 4:1). We must "bear with one another" because we are sinners with the strengths and weaknesses that come with being human. "M" is for MISSION. We must understand His mission for us as a Church community and as individuals in the Body of Christ. We must continuously seek God's will in our lives and then DO IT! ("When all is said and done, more is said than done!") "B" is for BOLDNESS. We must be bold in sharing God's love with others. We must be willing to take the risk of being rejected. Rejection will happen to us just as it happened to Jesus. We never know how the Holy Spirit may be using us to plant seeds in another person's life even though we may initially experience rejection. Be BOLD for Jesus! "L" is for LOVE. Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul and love your neighbor as yourself. P.S. - Don't forget to love yourself. God made you in his image. "E" is for EVANGELIZE! It is the mission of the Church and everyone in it. Tell the world and those around you that God loves them, that Jesus loves them so much that he died on the cross for them and that he sent the Holy Spirit to purify us, to make us holy and to empower us to carry out his mission for us with charisma! Remember, God wants us
to be H. U. M. B. L. E. Our strength lies in
spiritual concepts. It lies in public sensitiveness to
evil. Our greatest danger is not from invasion by
foreign armies. Our dangers are that we may commit
suicide from within by complaisance with evil, or by
public tolerance of scandalous behavior.
President Herbert Hoover "Thoughts are causes and
conditions are effects. You are creating your current
life with your present thinking."
Brian Tracy As a Christian I am to be
concerned for the best person, the worst person, the
first person, the last person, the least person and the
lost person on earth that they might be saved
Robert Aubuchon
"Your attitude should be
the same as that of Jesus Christ: Who, being in the very
nature God, did not consider equality with God something
to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the the
very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled
himself and became obedient to death -- even death on a
cross!" Philippians 2:5-8
"There are two days in
the week about which and upon which I never worry. Two
carefree days, kept sacredly free from fear and
apprehension. One of these days is Yesterday. ...And the
other...is Tomorrow." Robert Jones Burdette
"What worries you,
masters you." Haddon W. Robinson
Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference. Max Lucado The Gospel is not
something we come to church to hear; it is something we
go from church to tell.
Vance Havner I believe with all my
heart that standing up for America means standing up for
the God who has so blessed our land. We need God's help
to guide our nation through stormy seas. But we can't
expect Him to protect America in a crisis if we just
leave Him over on the shelf in our day-to-day living.
Ronald Reagan In 1993, 33 year old
professional golfer Paul Azinger was diagnosed with
lymphoma in the right shoulder blade. He wrote, "A
genuine feeling of fear came over me. I could die from
cancer. Then another reality hit me even harder. I'm
going to die eventually, whether from cancer or
something else. It's just a question of when. Everything
I had accomplished in golf became meaningless to me. All
I wanted to do was live."
Then he remembered something that Larry Moody, who teaches Bible study on the tour, had said to him. "Zinger, we're not in the land of the living going to the land of the dying. We're in the land of the dying trying to get to the land of the living." Golfer Paul Azinger recovered from chemotherapy and successfully returned to the PGA tour. His bout with cancer has deepened his perspective and he wrote: "I've made a lot of money since I've been on the tour, and I've won a lot of tournaments, but that happiness is only temporary. The only way you will ever have true contentment is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I'm not saying that nothing ever bother me and I don't have problems, but I feel like I've found the answer to the six foot hole." This life on earth is short and fleeting. Eternal life resides in the person of Jesus Christ. Today, in prayer, praise the Lord for victory over death and that we have eternal life in Him. "Leadership is the art of
seeing the invisible...then touching it."
Doug Firebaugh "Everything rises and
falls on leadership."
John C. Maxwell
