WELCOME to the March 2004 edition of the Shalomindia.com E-Info Service.

CH1 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

The Wonderful Book
There is a wonderful book which contains everything we need to know to live our lives the way our Creator intended (II Timothy 3:16,17). There are countless truths to live by found in this book, God's message to mankind, but if we were to boil everything down to its most basic message, this book, the Bible, makes three things clear...

First, the Bible says that mankind has a problem, and that problem is called sin. Sin is any action or attitude that falls short of God's perfect standard. Every one of us has the problem of sin (Romans 3:23). And the Bible teaches us that there is a consequence to sin - sin separates us from a holy God (Habakkuk 1:13). In fact, the Bible tells us that end result of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and that there is nothing that we ourselves can do to solve the problem of sin.

Second, the Bible says that there is a solution to the problem of sin, and that solution is the person of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23). The Bible tells us that God loved us so much that he sent Jesus, His only Son, to die in our place (John 3:16). Jesus paid the penalty of your sin so that you would not have to be forever separated from God (I John 4:10). The Bible also tells us that Jesus is the only solution for our sin problem (John 14:6).

, the Bible demands a decision. It is not enough to just know about Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for you. You must choose to put your trust in Christ, to receive this free gift of salvation that God offers (John 1:12).

All of us have the problem of sin. There is only one solution to the problem - the person of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for us. Every one of us must decide...
What will you do with Jesus Christ?†
The invitation is open - you can accept the gift of salvation and get rid of the sin in your life. It doesn't matter what you're doing or what you've done. The offer is open to everyone.

Your Hand in Intercessory Prayer

1. Your thumb is nearest to you.
So begin your intercession by praying for those closest to you. They are the
easiest to ones to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as
C.S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger.
Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers,
doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom for pointing
others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger.
It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in
business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our
nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger.
Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any
piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who
are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night.
You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger, the smallest finger of all.
Which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and
others. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself.

By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs
will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for
yourself more effectively.

When you find it hard to get to sleep tonight;
Just remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie in.

When you find yourself stuck in traffic; don't despair.
There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of

When you have a bad day at work; Think of the man who has
been out of work for the last three months.

When you grieve the passing of another weekend;
Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day,
seven days a week, for $15.00 to feed her family.

When your car breaks down, leaving you miles away from assistance;
Think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

When you notice a new gray hair in the mirror;
Think of the cancer patient in chemotherapy who wishes she had
hair to examine.

When you find yourself at a loss and pondering; what is life all about,
what is my purpose?
Be thankful, there are those who didn't live long enough to get the
opportunity to ask these questions.

A little girl
A little girl had great desire to join the church and the Pastor asked
if she had experienced a change of heart. She answered "Yes."

"Were you a sinner before?"

"Are you a sinner now?"
Again she answered, "Yes."

"Well then, what's the difference?"

After a brief moment of thought she said, "Before I was a converted
to Christ, I was a sinner running after sin; now, I am a sinner
running away from sin."

May we all be strenuously running away from sin!

If God is your co-pilot, switch seats with Him!
Would you like to know how to be sure you are going to heaven?

Prayer for Guidance

Father, I come before You with a need. I need You to show me what direction to take in this area of my life. (Be specific) I am trusting in You with all of my heart. I will not lean on my own understanding. I acknowledge You in every area of my life. In the name of Jesus I ask that You please direct my path so that I can be in Your perfect will.

Your Word says that You will instruct me, teach me and guide me in the way that I should go. I am trusting You, my Lord, to show me the way that I should take. I thank You for the precious Holy Spirit. I thank You for sending Him to me to guide me into all truth.

I thank You that You care about every choice and every decision I must come face to face with each day. Thank You for making clear to me what Your perfect will is for my life. In Jesusí Name. AMEN!

(Scripture References: Prov. 3:5-6; Ps. 32:8; Is. 48:17b; Jn. 16:13a)

How to get Answers to Prayer

#1. Follow God's Directives

Following God's directions for prayer is as important as praying itself if you want to get the results you desire. What are these directions?

Pray to the Father in Jesus' name. When you pray to the Father, two thirds of the Trinity pray with you- Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:27 says that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God. And Hebrews 7:25 says that Jesus ever lives to intercede for us. Jesus and the Holy Spirit pray FOR us according to the Father's will.

Pray without ceasing. In I Thessalonians 5:17 Paul tells us to "pray without ceasing." That doesn't mean we pray all day. God gave us the gift of praying in the Spirit so that we could communicate with God at any time. Driving the car, cooking dinner, or working in the yard are all great times to pray. Take advantage of every opportunity you have to pray, so you can begin to flow continuously in God's communication system.

#2. Examine Your Heart

Second Timothy 2:22 tells us to call upon the Lord with a pure heart. If you are believing for something and have not received results, check your heart. Repent if you are harboring a sin; then your slate will be clean, and you can expect an answer to your prayer.

God never says, "Examine other Christians' hearts." He says, "Examine your own heart." Be sensitive to Gods leading, then you will see results in your prayer life.

#3. Have compassion For Others

Did you know that your prayer life will be affected if you lose sight of other people's needs? Proverbs 21:13 says: "Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard." I encourage you to spend at least one hour a week praying for someone else. If you show compassion for others' lives, then you will see powerful changes in your own life. Don't forget about other people's needs. Stay in compassion and love, and God will meet your needs too.

To see answers to your prayers, you must release your faith in God's ability. The story of the woman with the issue of blood is such a blessing to me: "When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole" (Mark 5:27,28). This woman knew exactly what she wanted from the Lord--healing. She released her faith and was instantly healed.

The woman with the issue of blood acted on her faith. Don't wait for a prayer line to get your answer; act on your faith, and the answer will come.

No matter what has happened in your past, no matter what is happening in your present, seek out your heavenly Father in prayer as often as you can.
Take my word for it--

He loves you and wants to answer your prayers.
