Year 2004 Theme "Expect great things of God...attempt great things for God."
William Carey
(1761-1834)
Famous Carey Quote:
"Expect great things of God...attempt great things for God."
William Carey is known as the "Father of Modern Missions." Although he was raised in a poor family in England, he had a great desire for learning and had mastered five foreign languages (Dutch, French, Greek, Latin and Hebrew) by the time he was twenty years old.
he challenged others to "expect great things of God...attempt great things for God."
Because of his leadership, an English missionary society was founded. Carey traveled to India to serve in missionary work. During his 42 years of ministry, he and his co-workers translated the entire Bible into 26 languages, and the New Testament (or parts of it) into 25 more. In addition, Carey developed several dictionaries in other languages, and was actively involved in evangelism.

Worry
Luke 12:22 Then
Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your
life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.
23 Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or
barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!
25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? {Or single
cubit to his height}
26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the
rest?
27 "Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell
you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.
28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today,
and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of
little faith!
29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry
about it.
29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry
about it.
30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows
that you need them. (NIV) (See also Matthew 6:25)

How to Spend a
Day with the Lord
by Katherine Kehler, The Celebration of Women
Usually
our days are filled with the demands of life crying for our attention,
...but today, whether for four, eight or 12 hours, your only priority
is to be with your Lord -
...to bask in His love, to thank and worship Him, to listen to Him, to
intercede for others,
...to lay your life and activities before Him and let Him give
directions.
The Bible promises us in James 4:8, "Come near to God and He will
come near to you." He is waiting for you!
Don't rush. The objective is to spend relaxed uninterrupted time
with God, not to go through a format.
These are mere guidelines. Let God be your guide.
Preparation
Thanksgiving and Praise
Intercession
Pray your way around the world with unhurried, detailed intercession
for others.
"By intercessory prayer we can hold off Satan from other lives and give the Holy Ghost a chance with them. No wonder Jesus put such tremendous emphasis on prayer!" -Oswald Chambers
Personal Life Evaluation
"The greatest answer to prayer is that I am brought into a perfect understanding with God, and that alters my view of actual things." -Oswald Chambers
